Dr. Roy Pereira is the Special Assistant to the Senior Vice President Student Affairs at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, as well as LMU Student Ombudsman. Additionally, he teaches a core course in Global Leadership and delivers lectures in neuroscience to the post-doctoral psychology program. With more than 30 years of teaching experience, he has had numerous speaking engagements, including a TEDx talk. One aspect of his research covers the effects of cell phones, internet usage and social media on the brain, for which he was invited to lecture at Google Headquarters, Mountain View, CA. His research also involves understanding the Mind-Body Link, the effect of meditation on health outcomes, the placebo effect, and neuro-feedback, for which he was a guest speaker at Harvard University. His most recent book, Uncertain Times: Wellness Strategies from Neuroscience and Ignatius addresses contemporary issues. He has a sizeable presence on YouTube with a mix of videos on academic matters and music, including his compositions.
