He played a pivotal role in securing a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation and established a "Masters of Science degree program in Health Informatics" in Asia (2010), and served as a faculty member. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (Systems Engineering) and University of San Diego (MBA), Tom proudly served as a Navy carrier jet pilot and instructor for almost 10 years and successfully led key training, maintenance and operations functions. He subsequently joined Science Applications International Corporation, where he spearheaded the growth of a small business process optimization team into a multi-million dollar consulting practice, spanning multiple industries and information technology. Leveraging his consulting and outsourcing experience internally, he helped to guide several organizational transformations, and served as the Director of Change Management. Tom joined SDG&E in 2012 and has held several management positions, including IT Strategy Manager, prior to assuming leadership of and centralizing several IT analytics teams in 2018. He is currently leading a major evolution of analytics within his team and the company, shifting all IT teams to agile methodology, consolidating and modernizing technology with shift to cloud, and driving self-service and data governance tools/practices. Tom loves the great weather and outdoor life in San Diego, particularly biking, golf and water activities, and with their two children now in college, he and his wife are looking forward to traveling a bit more in the future.
