Senior Data Scientist, Innovation Team, City of Los Angeles – Mayor’s Office of Budget and Innovation

As Senior Data Scientist for Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Innovation Team, Alex leads data-driven initiatives to help address civic issues as varied as housing and business displacement, inequitable job access, and homelessness. Projects delivered include an interactive mapping application to assess gentrification and displacement risk in Los Angeles and a tool to help LAPD recruitment officers locate diverse populations for hiring. Prior to the City of Los Angeles, Alex worked on the implementation of a demand-based parking pricing model for Xerox. Alex graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a Master’s in Urban Planning from UCLA.
