Rajiv Maheswaran is CEO and Co-Founder of Second Spectrum, an innovative sports analytics and data visualization startup. Prior to Second Spectrum, Rajiv served as a Research Assistant Professor within the University of Southern California’s Department of Computer Science and a Project Leader at the Information Sciences Institute at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. He and Second Spectrum COO/Co-Founder Yu-Han Chang co-directed the Computational Behavior Group at USC.
Rajiv has received numerous awards and written over 100 publications in artificial intelligence and control theory. In 2014, Rajiv won the USC Viterbi School of Engineering Use-Inspired Research Award. Also in 2014, he won Best Research Paper (Alpha Award) at the renowned MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. He also won the Best Research Paper (Alpha Award) at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference In 2012.
Rajiv received a B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics, Engineering and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His work spans the fields of data analytics, data visualization, real-time interaction, spatiotemporal pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, decision theory and game theory.
