Compression is Caring
Generative AI products are everywhere. In this talk we’ll discuss the very nature of intelligence and how using generative AI actively with care for your audience is the way to standout when intelligence is abundant.
How often do you use generative AI in your day to day? Probably multiple times per day. You may use it to draft emails, research new topics, write code, or generate spreadsheets. Historically, the act of generation has been much more expensive than the act of ingestion of content. It would take an author thousands of times more hours to write a book than any one person to read it. Now, that is not the case. Generative activities are cheap, and you can even generate content without reading it yourself.
In this new world, AI is able to produce content given the right context, but it is still a human effort to compress that output into the right shape for the recipient. This is because we don't have the ability to load the entire history of your relationship with your recipients into context.
In this talk we'll explore what it means to compress for your reader (human or machine). We'll go over some various interpretations of compress as intelligence, and what you can do to ensure your message is always well received (even when it was generated by AI).
